Digital Economy Forum for Women
Friday 9 and Saturday 10 May

This meeting is a project from the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Center from Korea – APWINC, addressed to business women, academic women and representatives from the government, linked to the topics of digital economy and electronic commerce. The Ministry of Women and Social Development (MIMDES) is co-organizing this event. The goal is to promote the participation of women in the use and access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with commercial purposes.
Objetives:
- Disseminate and inform about good practices on the participation of women in e-commerce.
- Design policies and strategies to promote participation of women on the digital economy.

Women in Export Trade Event
Sunday, May 11
Cerro Juli Convention Center, Arequipa
Women from all Asia Pacific Member Economies with export experience participate in this meeting. This event takes place before the 13th Women Leaders’ Network Meeting (WLN). Women in Export Trade is being organized by the Ministry of Women and Social Development (MIMDES), in close coordination with the academic, business and private sectors. Its goal is to provide information on exports in order to empower women’s businesses in the region and to generate a space for export business women to exchange experiences.
Objetives:
- Promote the presence of business women in the APEC market.
- Capacity-building on export for Asia Pacific women.
- Exchange experience and good practices among export women.

13th Women Leaders’ Network Meeting (WLN)
Monday 12 – Wednesday 14 May
Cerro Juli Convention Center, Arequipa
Women Leaders Network is a network affiliated to APEC where women agree upon on different matters. It is made up of women from the private, academic, government and civil society sectors. The goal of the WLN is to find ways and develop strategies to pay attention to women’s worries, consider their aspirations and establish a firm commitment when decisions and policies are adopted in APEC.
The mission of the 13th meeting is to promote and strengthen the participation of women on economic and dynamic activities.
Objetives:
- Identify key topics that affect business women and stress their contribution to economies.
- Propose solutions for the challenges that the business women must face regarding free trade, globalization and integration into economy.
- Provide better opportunities to women leaders to share experiences and have a better access to markets.

Gender Training Seminar
Thursday 15 and Friday 16 May

This Seminar is a Project from the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC) from the Women’s Sookmyung University in Korea. This event is addressed to the representatives that participate in the Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM II) to enable them to include gender contents into their policies, proposals and strategies.
Objetives:
- Speed up the process to integrate gender into APEC strategies and practices, through the training of Senior Officials that participate in different APEC meetings (SOM).
- Validation of the Training Manual where concepts, practices and tools to integrate gender into Senior Officials’ intervention policies and strategies are developed.

6th Meeting of Gender Focal Point Network
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May
Gran Hotel de Tacna, Tacna
The Meeting of Gender Focal Point gathers all official representatives from Women bureaus from each of 21 APEC Member Economies. Its 6th Meeting will take place in Peru and the following will be hosted by Singapore in 2009 and Japan in 2010.
Objectives:
- Promote application of the APEC Women Integration Frame to reach gender equality and economic integration for women in the Region.
- Promote participation of women in different APEC fora.
- Collect information separated by sex.
- Share good practices of gender integration in each of the economies.
