PERUVIAN LEADER WILL HOLD BILATERAL MEETINGS WITH SEVERAL APEC ECONOMIES DURING LEADERS’ WEEK

• Meetings will take place at the office assigned to the Peruvian Leader at the Ministry of Defense Convention Center and the Government Palace.

APEC PERU 2008 Forum is a crucial event for the exchange of experiences in the matters of international trade, diplomatic relationships, business and investment possibilities. This is why, the Peruvian Leader, Alan García Pérez, will hold bilateral meetings with many of the Economic Leaders from the APEC 21 Member Economies.

The Peruvian Leader has scheduled bilateral meetings with the Leaders of Japan, People’s Republic of China, Thailand, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Russia, The United States of America and Canada. These meetings will be developed within the APEC Leaders’ Week framework, both at the Government Palace, and at the Ministry of Defense Convention Center.

Furthermore, during the APEC PERU 2008 Leaders’ Week, Hong Kong, China has made appointments with Russia and Australia; and Chile plans to meet with People´s Republic of China and Vietnam.

On the other hand, the APEC Ministers have been carrying out bilateral meetings as well, prior to the 20th APEC Joint Ministerial Meeting to be held at the National Museum. In this regard, the SOM Chair, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gonzalo Gutiérrez, has scheduled appointments with the Economies of People´s Republic of China, Russia, Canada, Brunei Darussalam, Chinese Taipei and New Zeeland; as a round of conversations with Republic of Korea and Japan    

Within the following days the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Antonio García Belaunde, will hold bilateral meetings with Japan, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada and Papua New Guinea.
