NEAR THREE THOUSAND JOURNALISTS COVER APEC PERU 2008 FORUM LEADERS’ WEEK ACTIVITIES

• International Media Center provides facilities and services for several media, national and international, from the 21 Asia-Pacific Economies.
• Vice admiral Luis Giampietri supervises the services for journalists and the logistic development

Starting today, near three thousand journalists from the most important media from the 21 APEC Member Economies, will report about all the scheduled activities that will be held from November 16 to 23. High-Level Extraordinary Commission has provided journalists with the International Media Center – IMC. This environment has the most modern equipment to facilitate the journalistic work.

This morning, Vice admiral (r) Luis Giampietri, CEAN APEC Chairman, visited the areas of the IMC: journalists’ working area, international agencies booths, press conferences rooms, Broadcasting and Television Area and the Cafeteria. During his visit he greeted journalists and technicians from different parts of the world and he acknowledged that the International Media Center is “making a great effort” to provide media representatives with the needed facilities.

International and National journals, radios and television channels, started their broadcasts from the Media Room and Television and Broadcasting Area located at the IMC equipped with all the technical support needed for the different information reports. From early this morning, journalistic reports have been broadcasted to different Asia-Pacific region Economies. 

IMC covers about 8,000 m2 area, and it is located at the Ministry of Defense Convention Center – MoD. It is worth mentioning that the IMC comprises the Press Room with 199 personal computers with Internet Access, Printers and Photocopiers; Press Conference Rooms for Senior Officials, Ministers and Leaders from the 21 Member Economies during the APEC Peru 2008 Leaders’ Week. It also has a Broadcasting Booths area where International Agencies has installed their equipment and minute-by-minute send information about the important sessions that started today with the Conclusive Meeting of Senior Officials.

For broadcasts, and thanks to the strategic Alliance with Telefonica del Peru company, several Communication and Telecommunication services will be provided 24/7. Specially, Television and Broadcasting area has a Master Control that emits signals that allow sending images to the Pas 3 Satellite. It also includes editing booths and several Play Out points to have each channel sending reports to their stations through the satellite and, even, to broadcast Live from some of the studios of the IMC.

To continuously report on the important meetings, CEAN APEC relies on a staff of editors, photographers and cameramen responsible to permanently provide national and international accredited media with information and footage. Information is also available on our website.
